Back to School Beach Bash

Last Thursday, our homeschool group had it's Back to School Beach Bash at a local beach. We went, mostly because I know how much the kids love the beach, and we did have fun. There were a bunch of families there and loads of kids. It was great! It was kind of weird having Savannah with me and the boys, instead of Ashton, but she had fun, too. Some of her longtime friends were there, so she was glad she went. Unfortunately, the tops of my feet got sunburned, even thought I put sunscreen on them! Bummer. Here's some cute pix of the kids playing.

This is Levi pushing around the aluminum foil "ship" Indy made in school the day before. I don't know if it was the Nina, Pinta, or Santa Maria. Yes, he's studying about Christopher Columbus! lol Either way, I thought it was funny that my kids had little foil ships to play with while the other kids had all these plastic toys around!! lol Hey, I let them pick 3 toys each to take with them and that's what they picked. Funny, huh? Looks like this ship has seen better days!! They did take a couple other toys, too.

Indy and his castle/moat/hole in the ground thing he built. He worked on this for almost an hour! And, boy, was it deep! He was so proud. :-)

Savannah and friends, Austin and Cole.

Overall, it was not too bad of a day...just exhausting. That sun kills me! But, I know it will probably be our last beach day until next spring, so it was nice to go. Even though I'm not a big fan of the beach, I'm glad we live near it so we can go whenever we want. I think my childhood beach memories are some of my fondest. I hope my kids' are, too.
